Actress and former fiancee settle parenting issue

Tennessee residents may be interested to know that on September 17, actress Uma Thurman and her ex-fiance settled a child custody matter in Manhattan Supreme Court. The judge in the case praised the couple for putting the needs of the child ahead of their feelings for each other. The matter began when Thurman's ex-fiance requested to spend more time with their 3-year-old daughter.

Husband argues he is not required to identify assets in divorce

The division of marital property is often a contentious issue for Tennessee couples who are going through a divorce. Before assets can be divided, however, they must be identified. One man in New York believes that it is not his responsibility, however.

Tennessee custody and visitation

Tennessee parents may know that matters affecting child custody are placed under the jurisdiction of the child's home state in order to avoid conflict if a parent moves away. This is a part of the enforcement and jurisdiction law adopted by almost all states in the country as a way to avoid conflict if a child is taken outside the state. In this way, a parent who takes a child out of state must have permission from the custodial parent, or the child will be returned by the court in the state where he or she has been taken.

Issues that may affect child custody

As Tennessee residents may know, interference with visitation in child custody cases may result in custody of a child being awarded to the other parent. This is what happened in the case of actress Kelly Rutherford and her ex-husband. Rutherford was ordered by the court to return her children to Monaco to live with their father, who had been awarded physical custody of the children.
