Holidays and their effect on child custody

The holidays are often a time when Tennessee families get together to celebrate the season. However, for parents who are divorced, they may or may not be able to spend Christmas with their children. In many cases, divorced parents will come up with a parenting plan that determines their child custody arrangements. For instance, a parent may have custody of his or her child on Christmas one year and let the other parent have custody on that day the next year.

How marital assets are affected by divorce and bankruptcy

Tennessee couples who are thinking about ending their marriage often overlook how finances will be affected by the decision. Property obtained during the marriage can end up in dispute. Assets, valuation and property division will all come to the forefront. Often, there are financial issues that make bankruptcy a possibility.

Changing child support in Tennessee

Divorced and separated parents in Tennessee often have concerns about child support payments. These concerns are sometimes triggered by changes in the circumstances of either parent as well as the child. In such cases, either the court or a government agency, such as the Department of Human Services or local child support office, may be willing to order a child support modification.

Setback for Morena Baccarin in divorce case

Some Tennessee television fans may have been following the divorce of actress Morena Baccarin. Her husband, Austin Chick, filed for divorce in July 2015. Initially the two planned to remain in New York with shared custody of their 2-year-old son, but on learning that his estranged wife was dating her co-star from the TV show "Gotham," Chick moved to California. Baccarin is pregnant with the child of her co-star.
